Wow, that’s awesome! The government’s really stepping up their game - they’re bringing forward the ban on petrol and diesel cars from 2040 to 2030. So by 2035, all new cars and vans will be zero emissions. That’ll make a huge difference!
2040 Ban: In July 2017, the UK government announced plans to ban the sale of new diesel and petrol cars by 2040 in an effort to reduce air pollution.
2030 Ban: In February 2020, the UK government announced plans to bring forward the ban on new diesel and petrol cars from 2040 to 2030.
Hybrid Cars: The ban will not apply to hybrid cars that have both a petrol or diesel engine and an electric motor, as long as they meet certain emissions standards.
